Oh please Heidi, could we please not be served with that ? This absolutely does not answer the question. – nando, on March 14, 2010 00:47

Yeah, sure Ronald, they are so busy fixing those issues which are plaguing us for months now, that they would never find the time to paste the famous ZBar in FFS... oh wait, they actually did... seems developers find time to solve priority 0 issues before top-priority ones...
And you know Ronald, serving us this 1000 times baked answer is perceived by most of us as simply insulting. It would be far better, not even bothering to say a word.

Wow, I guess I really need to answer to a few things...
@Da Queen: No, I'm not, even in a remote way, connected with Serious Business. Actually, I've been rambling since before you started playing, and I've always expressed that I love the game, but I hate the hypocritical and careless ways they are communicating with us, the players. And no, I didn't click any "This answers the question" button in this thread (if you scroll up a bit, you will see that I'm complaining myself about this question being marked as "answered" as well)
Other than that, I have to stress that my only negative concern about this thread, is the use of the word "script". It's the title of this thread, and it should not be, because the issue is not "scripts", it's something totally different. And for what it's worth, I do completely agree with Hawk's analogy with pipes and oil.
I'm going to quote myself : The real topic is the legality of these actions, and there, I'm with you all when you say that trespassing should acted upon (read, punished by ban)

Hey Lab, long time no see my friend :)
Of course, I can't disclose the details, but the truth is that there are insufficient controls made by the FFS servers. The most probable reason for this is simply that it would kill the servers in terms of performance to do the proper checks when the buy is executed. So, currently, the FFS servers only avoid sending you a page with a proper buy button (actually, a form) when the pet is supposed to be un-purchasable for you... I'll let you figure out what's the flaw here...
But this is only the technical aspect of the issue. I do believe that FFS doesn't have the means to provide a better protection than what is provided now. But in the case presented by the topic opener, if it can be proven that someone bypassed FB and/or FFS blocks, then FFS mods should intervene in a punitive manner in my opinion, because it definitely cannot happen by mistake.
A last word about the notion of "script": scripts are created and used for repetitive tasks, like chores, coins, etc. There's absolutely no point in writing a script for buying privates. The only thing you need for that is knowledge.
nando replied on March 07, 2010 21:07 to the question "IS THE USING SCRIPTS ALLOWED ON FACEBOOK PLATFORM ?" in Serious Business:
@Alexis: in this case, it is extremely doubtful that it happened that way.
And about the topic in general, I'd like to say that it's confusing to incriminate "scripts". No scripts are needed to accomplish that. The truth is that it is technically possible to buy any private pet. You can block me on Facebook, activate Friends-only mode and block the application, I will still be able to buy you, provided I have enough cash.
But this is neither a script, nor a bot. So please, people stop talking about "scripts" regarding this issue. It's only confusing. The real topic is the legality of these actions, and there, I'm with you all when you say that trespassing should acted upon (read, punished by ban)
nando replied on March 06, 2010 18:27 to the question "Z-index on the white space section under "Add to Wishlist" button" in Serious Business:
The problem is not about putting the picture "under", you can put any picture you want under this area. The problem is that its background is not transparent, it's white, so nothing that's underneath is visible...
Actually, I'm using Stylish to tune the FFS stylesheets to my liking, and if you would put something under the wishlist button on your profile, I would see it properly, but I would probably be the only one...

nando replied on February 17, 2010 16:43 to the idea "Protecting your NFS Pets." in Serious Business:
Sigh... Serious Business just cannot afford to offer a NFS mechanism in FFS for free. They can only afford such a feature if you compensate them by paying real cash for a lock.
I have neither the time nor the motivation to explain in detail, I can simply suggest that you seek publicly available informations about the business behind all these social platform games in general, those should enlighten you.
A comment on the question "Blank pages, garbled pages (CSS), malfunctioning pages (JS)... aren't all these problems related ?" in Serious Business:
That's interesting... Opening my own profile is slow for sure, but I get it (most of the times). But I cannot open your profile...
One of the obvious differences is simply that my account is quite old (2 years), while yours is recent if I understand correctly...
Could it be that some lazy programmer wrote a dirty piece of code with a linear search algorythm that doesn't scale properly ? That would be so awesomely ridiculous !
Bella, what is the link to your Facebook profile (not the FFS one), I'd like to see if there is any issues for me to access it. If not, then we have proof that the problem is located at FFS (granted, we're almost certain already and that doesn't help much, but as said, I'm curious...) – nando, on February 16, 2010 14:47
